Weakened email in summer? Our actions against invisible sugar

Published on July 09, 2025

Summer invites us to savor sweet pleasures: an ice cream on the beach, a mango-passion smoothie after yoga, a fresh fruit salad on the terrace... These little sunny pleasures are good for morale, but less so for the enamel of our teethHowever, there is no question of depriving ourselves, we just need to understand better and protect better.

Natural sugar or added sugar: same battle for enamel

That the sugar comes from a homemade ice cream, fresh fruit, or a homemade detox juice, it remains a fuel for oral bacteria. These bacteria produce acid when they digest sugar, which attacks the enamel and weakens your teeth in the long term.

And thefruit acidity, like lemon, pineapple or raspberry, multiplies the erosive effect : it temporarily softens the enamel, making your teeth more vulnerable if you brush right after.

The right steps to protect your smile all summer long

1. Rinse with water after a gentle

After a sorbet or a smoothie, a simple glass of water or rinsing with clear water helps neutralize the acidity and remove sugary residue.

2. Wait 30 minutes before brushing

After eating or drinking something acidic, wait at least 30 minutes to brush your teeth. This allows saliva to remineralize the enamel naturally.

3. Brush gently with respectful care

What about fruits? Should we avoid them?

Not at all. fruits are excellent for general health. The secret is to:

  • Consume them during a real meal, rather than snacking in isolation,
  • Drink water afterwards,

And avoid dried or candied fruits, which are very sticky and rich in concentrated sugars.

Protect naturally: a gentle & holistic ritual

To keep your enamel strong despite ice creams, summer juices and fruity pleasures, consider incorporating remineralizing care to your oral routine. The idea is tonaturally support the remineralization of enamel and soothe the mouth after each acid exposure.
